you must be wondering why i'm online posting an entry just after i booked in on tuesday. haha
well, SCDF doesn't confine recruits for the first 2weeks.
so i booked out on friday at around 5.30pm.
i was quite suprised to hear that i didn't have to be confined.
at the same relieved. haha
though i packed way too much for 4days and 3nights. haha
i have to correct some people.
SCDF ain't as slack as many people think.
we still have tough physical trainings, endurance trainings, footdrills, bunk inspections.
but i believe that it'll only be a matter of time till i get used to it.
the only thing that i hard to adjust is the number of hours of sleep we're given.
i've been sleeping 8hrs of sleep most of the time, and suddenly sleeping 4-6hrs a night, it's tough to adjust.
i just gotta adjust i suppose.
i'm always quite relieved that our superiors are not that strict.
maybe its just the first week, but i'm still glad that they realise that it takes us time to adjust.
they are also very friendly, approachable and helpful.
so that helped with the adjusting.
i'm also glad with some of my bunk mates.
one of them plays squash too.
he used to play for TPJC.
so at least got some things to talk about.
the others are quite easy to talk too.
and they come from all sorts of backgrounds.
which serves one of the purposes of National Service.
making one mix with all kinds of people and learn to live together in harmony.
my dad says what i'm experiencing now is nothing compared to what he had to go through when he served his Ns.
i guess they are smarter in a sense that it isn't that necessary to go through such a hard time.
i'm not saying it is easy, there is still that element of hardness.
but its not rediculous. and i'm lucky in that sense.
i wasn't selected for ERS(emergency response specialists) course or the firemen course. PHEW
i heard it is much tougher than what we go through in BRT(basic rescue training).
so i'll continue with the 7week BRT and then will be posted to our respective vocations.
which is a big YAY for me as i really want to be a driver where i hear i can get a civilian license at the same time.
went to suntec today to get some stuff like plastic specs, spec hooks, starch, kiwi etc
then i'll probably go to church tomorrow and then gotta book in by 8pm.
then it'll be a whole week but luckily i just have to bear with it till friday.
so another YAY, i might even continue my squash trainings on saturdays.
if i have the energy of course. haha
